OAKLAND — A man possibly linked to a shooting at a West Oakland apartment complex Thursday morning surrendered to police after a five-hour standoff, authorities said.
Police were first called to the complex in the 800 block of West Grand Avenue about 8:30 a.m. for reports of shots fired inside one of the apartments with a suspect still inside.
Patrol officers tried unsuccessfully to get the man to come outside. The department’s SWAT team was brought to the scene about 11 a.m. in case entry had to be made and traffic controls were established along West Grand between Market and Curtis streets.
After more negotiations, the man finally came out of the apartment about 1:30 p.m., authorities said.
Police have not yet said if anyone was injured in the shooting or if a gun was recovered.
Officers remained on the scene to conduct follow-up investigation.
