A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday when he collided with another motorist in Coon Rapids, officials say.

The motorcyclist was approaching 119th Avenue in the northbound lanes of Hanson Boulevard about 4 p.m., when he collided with a vehicle that was pulling out of the Lions Coon Creek Park entrance, according to a news release issued by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was declared dead at the scene, the news release said. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured. Neither was immediately identified by authorities.

The crash temporarily closed both directions of Hanson Boulevard at rush hour, and officials asked motorists to find alternate routes.

The crash is being investigated by the Coon Rapids Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office.
