Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts as a round of rain and thunderstorms will roll through the region later this week.

The National Weather Service in Boulder forecasts mostly sunny skies Wednesday with a high of 83 degrees, starting a streak of warmer temperatures for the rest of the week. Expect light winds through the day. There is a 40% chance of rain and thunderstorm in the afternoon, with heavier rain anticipated in the northeast plains, NWS reports.

By Wednesday night, the low will drop to 58 degrees. There is a 30% chance of precipitation before midnight.

Chances for rain and thunderstorms climb up to 60% for Thursday, with storms more likely to occur by md-afternoon. Areas east of the mountains and the foothills will be hit with heavier rainfall. The high will reach 82 degrees.

Showers will continue Thursday night with mostly cloudy skies. Thunderstorms are possible. The night’s low will be around 59 degrees.

Friday will be another day of storms with a 50% chance of precipitation in the afternoon. Otherwise, sunshine will likely return with a high of 84 degrees.
