Bail set at $10 million for 2 men charged in deadly St. Paul bar shootout

Bail has been set at $10 million apiece for two men charged in the shoutout at a St. Paul bar that left one woman dead and 14 people wounded over the weekend.

Terry Lorenzo Brown Jr., 33, of St. Paul, who is charged with one count of second-degree murder and 11 counts of intentional attempted murder in the second degree, made his first appearance in court on Wednesday morning.

Devondre Trevon Phillips, 29, of Las Vegas, who is charged with 12 counts of intentional attempted murder in the second degree, made his first court appearance Tuesday.

Both men requested and were granted court-appointed attorneys.

The shootout apparently began over an allegation that Brown had abused his girlfriend, a relative of Phillips, according to court documents.

Both men were injured in the exchange of gunfire, along with 11 other bar patrons, all of whom are expected to survive.

Marquisha D. Wiley, a 27-year-old St. Paul woman who was an innocent bystander, was killed in the cross fire. A man involved in the suspects’ dispute was also shot.

Phillips’ next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 9, while Brown’s is set for Nov. 10.
