Authorities recover body of missing Grand Rapids-area boater

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. — Authorities recovered the body of a 30-year-old Grand Rapids man Monday after a four-day water search.

Dustin Kurt Bonham fell out of his boat shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday while on Little Splithand Lake, about 15 miles southeast of Grand Rapids. First responders were alerted after the man hadn’t resurfaced, according to a news release from the Itasca County sheriff’s office.

The body was recovered around 8:30 pm. Monday using a remote underwater vehicle from the Itasca County Dive and Search and Rescue Team.

Bonham was not wearing a life jacket. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the drowning, the release said.
